ACCESS TO CULBIN FOR FUTURE EVENTS
Culbin is a fantastic area and a great asset for Scottish Orienteering. It is also an important nature conservation site, and obtaining permission for BOC 2008 took considerable negotiation and careful planning to protect environmental interests. If you wish to revisit Culbin for training, please remember that access to the forest is covered by the principles set out in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (for further information see www.outdooraccess-scotland.com), in particular the requirement to exercise your access rights responsibly.
We would recommend that you steer clear of all extensive lichen areas (the largest of which were mapped OOB on the competition map), and stick to pre-existing tracks where crossing lichen beds is unavoidable.  there are also further restrictions in some places - notably sensitive flower sites and (at certain times of the year) areas of funghi.
If you are in doubt as to what areas to train in, please contact SNH at their Elgin office for further information (01343 541551).  This will help reinforce Orienteering's reputation as a responsible landuser and safeguard future permissions for competition

OTHER INFO & ANNOUNCEMENTS
We have a few BOC 2008 T-shirts left at reduced prices. Click here for more details.

Brikke amnesty: Did you take a hired Emit brikke away with you by mistake? If so please email us for instructions on where to return it to. It would help to have the brikke number and the club name written on it if applicable. Thanks.

Non-runners' maps: If you couldn't make it but would like to have your map sent to you, send a LARGE stamped and addressed envelope to Hilary Quick at National Orienteering Centre, Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore PH22 1QU stating your name and class.  Any maps not requested by 15th May will be allocated elsewhere for training purposes.

Lost property: 1x thumb compass dropped at Download at the Relays, 1x vacuum flask top, 1 pair ladies thermal gloves maroon Craft, 1x good quality red top found next to the CompassPoint stall on Saturday.
Email boc2008@hotmail.co.uk to claim and arrange return.

Thanks: to all the runners who were "having a bad run anyway" and offered to stop to help Nicky Toop after she fractured her wrist. Special thanks to Val Springett (Invoc) for first aid and an escort to assembly and Margaret Aust (Gramp) for the loan of an O top as improvised sling, and also thanks to the Elgin First Aiders.
